Writers

Nobody knows whether we were catalysts or invented something, or just the froth riding on a wave of its own. We were all three, I suppose.

You are serious and disinclined to frivolous or inconsequential activity. It's a time best spent working alone, structuring and organizing your life in some way, and focusing on whatever tasks (however distasteful or tedious that you really need to do. You feel like withdrawing from people and find social situations unfulfilling or wasteful.

The question how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

In modern usage, this question serves as a metaphor for wasting time debating topics of no practical value.[1][2]

Tulum

Tulum ( (Tulu'um in Modern Maya) ; in Spanish orthography, Tulum) is the site of a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city serving as a major port for Cobá.[1] The ruins are located on 12-meter (39 ft) cliffs, along the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico.[1] One of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites, Tulum is today a popular site for tourists.[1]

it shall be unlawful

The Tennessee anti-evolution law, which had been proposed by state legislator John Washington Butler, declared:
"... that it shall be unlawful for any teacher in any of the Universities, Normals and all other public schools of the State which are supported in whole or in part by the public school funds of the State, to teach any theory that denies the story of the Divine Creation of man as taught in the Bible, and to teach instead that man has descended from a lower order of animals."[1]

all this is in vain

Silence alone is noble - weakness remains. O traveller I understand you well, Your final gaze went to my very soul. Saying: "With all your being you must strive...With strength and purpose and with all your thought...To gain that high degree of stoic pride... To which, although a beast I have aspired. Weeping or praying - all this is in vain. Shoulder your long and energetic task, The way that Destiny sees fit to ask, Then suffer and so die without complaint."

BIrds

And Nature said:
" I am that theatre Insentient,
unmoved by any actor."
My emerald stairs, my courts of alabaster,
My marble halls are sculpted by the Gods.
Nought do I hear, nor cries or moans,
And barely feel those that do play on me
Scanning the silent sky for audience.

The worst thing you can try to do is cling to something that is gone, or to recreate it. -Johnette Napolitano
I shall see nothing, - not the golds, the dying sun, The sails that thicken to Harfleur. But holly, look, to lie with you, And broom that blossoms all the year.

iKAN

Turn 'I wish' into 'I will' and 'I can't' into 'I can.'
The water caressed the shore so gently! That joyous sweet girl, fearful and wild, Among the green rushes she came to me, Her hair in her eyes, and through it a smile.

Weather

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it was, and always will be yours. If it never returns, it was never yours to begin with. If it just sits in your room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your phone, takes your money, and never behaves as if you actually set it free in the first place, either it lives at yer place or u gave birth to it.

A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says: "That's the ugliest baby that I've ever seen. Ugh!" The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: "The driver just insulted me!" The man says: "You go right up there and tell him off! Go ahead, I'll hold your monkey for you."

signaled distress

Circus Bandleader Merle Evans is said to be the person who first spotted the flames, and immediately directed the band to play Stars and Stripes Forever, the tune that traditionally signaled distress to all circus personnel. Ringmaster Fred Bradna urged the audience not to panic and to leave in an orderly fashion, but the power failed and he could not be heard. Bradna and the ushers unsuccessfully tried to maintain some order as the panicked crowd tried to flee the big top.
A guy spots a sign outside a house that reads "Talking Dog for Sale." Intrigued, he walks in.-"So what have you done with your life?" he asks the dog. "I've led a very full life," says the dog. "I lived in the Alps rescuing avalanche victims. Then I served my country in Iraq. And now I spend my days reading to the residents of a retirement home."The guy is flabbergasted. He asks the dog's owner, "Why on earth would you want to get rid of an incredible dog like that?"The owner says, "Because he's a liar! He never did any of that!"

Wei Wu Wei

Let us live gladly! Quite certainly we are free to do it. Perhaps it is our only freedom, but ours it is, and it is only phenomenally a freedom. 'Living free' is being 'as one is'. Can we not do it now? Indeed can we not-do-it? It is not even a 'doing': it is beyond doing and not-doing. It is being as-we-are. This is the only 'practice'. 'All Else is Bondage; Non-Volitional Living' - Wei Wu Wei

4th of July

It is our interest and our task to make the revolution permanent until all the more or less propertied classes have been driven from their ruling positions, until the proletariat has conquered state power and until the association of the proletarians has progressed sufficiently far - not only in one country but in all the leading countries of the world - that competition between the proletarians of these countries ceases and at least the decisive forces of production are concentrated in the hands of the workers. ... Their battle-cry must be: "The Permanent Revolution." -Leon_Trotsky

Hidden Truth

In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts; they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In mathematics you don't understand things. You just get used to them. - Johann von Neumann
To comprehend and to understand God above all similitudes, as He is in Himself, is to be God with God, without intermediary, and without any otherness that can become a hindrance or an intermediary. Whosoever wishes to understand this must have died to himself, and must live in God, and must turn his gaze to the eternal light in the ground of his spirit, where the Hidden Truth reveals Itself without means. - Ruysbroek.
